The finest (and most expensive) of these are the wines from the great Sacre Royal and the Right Bank appellations Saint-Émilion and Bordeaux . The former is focused (at the top level) on Cabernet Sauvignon, the latter pair on Merlot.
Aroma: Ripe fruit, toasts, coffee, cocoa, cinnamon and vanilla.
Colour: Bright and deep ripe cherry red.
Taste: Round, well balanced and very elegant. Fruity and mellow toast together with spices and chocolate. A long and intense aftertaste of red liquorice.
